Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center is an 1,160-acre tallgrass prairie nature preserve located 20 minutes southwest of Lincoln, Nebraska. (Download driving directions to the Center below.) Visitors can enjoy miles of walking trails (download trail map below or link to our new online trail map), nearly 850 acres of native (never plowed) tallgrass prairie, ponds and wetlands, wildflowers and grasses, a diverse assortment of birds and other wildlife, historic nineteenth-century wagon ruts, peaceful surroundings, and beautiful scenic vistas. Volunteer opportunities are available and education programs for all ages are offered year-round.
Note: The new 310-acre parcel that was added to the Center's property in September 2023 is not open to the public. We are asking vistiors to refrain from entering the parcel until further notice. We look forward to opening the site next spring.
It is one of a growing number of Audubon Centers of the National Audubon Society. Our regional office is Audubon Great Plains.

Are group tours available? Yes. A one-hour guided walk/tour is $7/person for groups of 6 to 20 people; $8/person over 20 people; $40 minimum for groups of 5 people or less. E-mail or call us for information on tour availability.
Can dogs/pets be brought to Spring Creek Prairie? Although we all love dogs here, the only trail that we allow dogs is the Prairie Corridor trail, which begins at the kiosk along the walkway from the parking lot to the visitor center, and goes north to our property line. (The exception being service animals.) The nesting success and safety of the grassland birds here are our priority, and they need to be kept safe from other animals. We appreciate your understanding, and we can provide maps of nearby outdoor places where pets are allowed.
Are drones allowed to be flown? Drones are only allowed on our property for research activities, and flights must be approved and scheduled by staff.
